HOLYWELL BEACH
This neglected and heavily tagged gate is in an area of outstanding natural beauty at Holywell beach was commissioned to me by South East Water. Therefore it seemed only fitting to look at local species, but this time I decided to involve the public in the process of giving feedback through an online survey which gives the opportunity for locals and anyone interested, to have their say.
How the Gate looked like before
The idea I had for this piece had to be inclusive, I wanted to add some value to my project both for my client, South East Water and most importantly to the public, who will after all be visiting this beautiful space. I could have just decided myself something that was sympathetic to the area, in fact I did start a creative process in one direction, but then the eureka moment struck, so Zara my apprentice, and I began to create a short film and a survey.
The intention is that this film is as as accessible as possible to include young people, the elderly and also those with learning disabilities, so that itβs nice and slow pace and easily understandable and not relying on too much jargon with no sudden loud sound effects etc.
