WASHBROOK FARM MURAL

A commission for the much loved family entertainment venue and farm Washbrooks in Sussex. The idea was to create something for young people to look at on the final leg of the small train ride, by transforming a big storage barn into something cute but also realistic and fascinating.

The UK Harvest mouse is the weight of a 2p piece. The tiny harvest mouse lives in long tussocky grassland, reedbeds, hedgerows, farmland and around woodland edges. It is mainly vegetarian, eating seeds and fruits, but will also eat invertebrates. Harvest mice build a spherical nest of tightly woven grass, high-up in the tall grasses, in which the female will give birth to around six young.

Did you know?

The harvest mouse is the only British mammal to have a prehensile tail: it can use it like a fifth limb, holding on to grass stems with it. So with these informations and my research into this adorable creature I made the design up as I went along after compiling some sketches and images of this adorable creature in it’s natural habitat.

Its a tiny creature thats why I wanted to produce something LARGE SCALE to show just how clever these tiny protected mammals are.
