UNIVERSITY OF CREATIVE ARTS

I went in to the University of Creative Arts to give 2nd year graphic students a taster of a completely new medium, spraypaint!

TESTIMONIAL

β€œSarah gave a great workshop to my Undergraduates at UCA Epsom. She brought a wealth of materials and items to explain the techniques in a clear and logical fashion; following Health and safety throughout. She left the students excited, inspired and confident with the materials used and the techniques they were able to engage with. They felt they had learnt so much in just half a day! It was one of the best workshops we have been able to facilitate in a long time!”

WORKSHOP & DESIGNS

The students were mainly digital artwork based and some of them had used brushes that resemble airbrush and spraypaint in their designs, but no one had actually used an aerosol paint before! My mission was to get each student feeling confident enough to use the medium then begin to imagine how they would translate this onto a real wall.

WALL MOCK UPS

The next phase with the students was to start getting their designs into the real world! Below are two mock ups of the students work running along the bottom and mine and my assistants designs running along the top (including the queen).

STUDENT BOOKLET

I followed up my workshop with individual tutorials a few weeks later to ensure that each and every student had really thought through their design. To help each student prepare to paint their designs, I created a booklet with bespoke instructions for each students artwork so that it would fit within the chosen frame & any colour changes to match with the wall’s theme.
